KECHRIS and the Environment
For Kechris quality is tantamount to responsibility. Responsibility towards the contemporary consumer, which guides us into producing award-winning high-quality wines, but also the responsibility towards the consumer of the next generations, the responsibility that inspires us to put in place processes which respect and protect the environment.
In this context, our company already participates in the system of alternative packaging management, actively contributing to the recycling of more than 1.5 million bottles that it uses annually for selling its wines on the Greek market. The special mark on all our labels is just one example of our effort to reduce the impact on the environment of our product production, which steadily rises each year together with consumers’ preference for us.
Despite this increase, we continue to maintain a steady quantity of grapes produced through integrated vineyard management certified according to Agro 2-1 and 2-2 standards. Today, this specific quantity has reached 70% of our total production, while we make every effort to increase that in the future.
At the same time, and since our responsibility to the environment does not only concern production, but all our activity, in recent years our presence at trade fairs and events inside and outside the company, is supported by reused and recycled materials. Crates and other items we use at harvest and in production not only demonstrate our respect towards the raw material and the finished product, but reduce to the minimum the waste resulting from our actions at these events.
Our respect towards the environment does not end there. Every day we continue to research new ways, both in the production as well as in all our actions that will help us to cut down even more on our footprint on the environment.
